Simple Sail Away Notecard

Like what you see?

Today’s Simple Sail Away Notecard was one of the makes we got to play with at OnStage back in April. Wow that seems such a long time ago now! Anyway, because I couldn’t do a Facebook Live yesterday I thought I would show you the card I would have made! This card doesn’t use a lot of supplies and therefore is great for beginner crafters who want to push their cards just a little more than simple stamping.

It’s not difficult though, you just need to know how to layer it all up!

Firstly, you need a Whisper White Notecard, you get 20 pre-cut card bases and envelopes, so it’s a great way to start. You’ll also need the Sail Away stamps, available 4th June, and some Night of Navy and Soft Suede ink.

First put down a subtle wash of colour – you can do this by using an Aqua Brush, Blender Pen or even a sponge or dauber – use Night of Navy ink and water it down so it’s really feint. Then wash the colour just over the centre piece of Watercolour Cardstock cut 7 x 10 cm. Leave that to dry. Next, stamp the lighthouse image in Night of Navy on Whisper White card and cut it out using your paper snips. This is a lot easier than it looks, just take care with the top of the lighthouse (of course if you have a die cutting machine then yes there are matching dies too!)

Stamp the sentiment in Night of Navy onto Balmy Blue card and punch out with the Everyday Label or similar sized punch. Now that your watercolour card is dry you also need to do some stamping on it. Using the compass and the anchor images, stamp these in Soft Suede over the wash of colour. This will lend some background interest and also depth of image to your card.

Now to put it all together!

Cover the front of your notecard with papers from the Come Sail Away designer series paper pack. You will need to cut it to 12.7 x 8.9 cm (or 3″ x 5 1/2″). Cut a smaller piece in another design 7.5 x 11, and mount your stamped watercolor card stock, Wrap the coordinating Baker’s Twine around this piece, making sure you add the anchor trinket, and mount to your card base with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Add the sentiment and you’re finished! Well, nearly! Don’t forget to stamp your envelope too. It lends a feel of sophistication to any envelope when it’s stamped.
