Using Washi Tape For A Simple Christmas Card Idea

Like what you see?

Today, I thought I’d talk about using Washi Tape and in particular using Washi Tape for a simple Christmas Card. It took me a while to really get to grips with Washi Tape and how to use it. I’m a clean & simple crafter so the idea of torn edges makes me shudder most of the time. But I’ve come to like it and use it more often in my designs (often with some help from Pinterest!)

Using Washi Tape For A Simple Christmas Card

I like the pros of using Washi Tape:

  • Fabulous matching colours and designs for our Stampin’ Up! papers etc (see them here just search for Washi)
  • It can be cut or torn easily
  • Washi Tape is repositionable – put it down gently & then remove it if you wish
  • It’s great for holding framelits in place if you don’t have a Magnetic Platform (although it’s on sale tomorrow if you fancy it!)
  • It’s great value for money with 3 or 5 rolls in a pack. Click this link to shop Washi Tape now.
  • You can use it as an alternative to ribbon.
  • It seems to go on & on for ever!

The cons are:

  • It’s a tape, not a ribbon. So you can’t tie bows with it (which some find a bonus!)
  • Because it tears you have to be a bit more gentle with it.
  • You need to think a bit differently about using it and It takes some getting used to.
  • It seems to go on & on for ever!

Here are all the Washi Tape packs available now in my Shop. Click on the images to go shopping! Please note some of these are now on special offer too!

Here I use Washi Tape to create the coloured tree. To make this card, you tear strips of Washi Tape and stick them down to your base Emerald Envy card. Cut out a Tree shape in a piece of Whisper White layer 14.4 x 10 cm) using the Santa’s Sleigh Dies. Overlay the Whisper White layer onto the base card so the Washi Tape shows through. Add your sentiment and don’t forget to stamp the inside of the card too.

Using Washi Tape for InsideIn conclusion, if you give Washi Tape a chance you’ll soon find yourself using Washi Tape for many different cards and projects. I love the fact that using Washi Tape for a simple Christmas Card idea made me write this blog post, so you can use it more too!
